Jack Osbourne Reveals How He Found Out About Dad Ozzy’s Death

Ozzy Osbourne’s son Jack is speaking out for the first time about losing his larger-than-life rockstar dad. 

Six weeks after Ozzy’s passing, Jack broke down in tears as he opened up.

On his podcast, Jack revealed how he heard the news his father had passed, saying, “I woke up in Los Angeles to a knock on my house door at around 3.45 [a.m. local time] in the morning.”

“Someone who has worked for my family for probably 30 years was knocking on my door, and when I looked through my window and I saw it was him, I just knew something bad had happened. I was informed that my father had passed,” Osbourne noted.

Along with feeling instant “sadness” and “pain,” Jack shared, “So many thoughts… There was a level of, like, ‘Okay, he’s not suffering anymore, he’s not struggling,’ and that is something.”

Referencing Ozzy’s last show with Black Sabbath, Osbourne said, “I wish he was still here. I wish he was still with us all, but he was having a rough go, and I think people saw that at the show.”

“No one expected it to happen as quickly as it did and when it did,” Jack admitted. “It was not anything that was on our radar.”

As for the love and support that Jack has received since Ozzy’s death, he commented, “That’s something that has been really unique about this experience is, as overwhelming as it can be, with the outpour of love and people reaching out, it’s also been really validating, because I know… my dad was a special guy.”

Ozzy had been in failing health in recent years, but Jack now insists that while his father may have seemed weak, his mind was not. 

Jack was supposed to go on a family vacation in Portugal weeks before Ozzy’s death, but his kids fell ill so they ended up spending time at his dad’s home in London.

Jack said, “I’ve never been so grateful for my kids to have the stomach flu as I am today.”
