Jack Osbourne revealed that his father, Ozzy Osbourne, was in a happy place at the time of his death at age 76. The Black Sabbath legend died on July 22, just 17 days after performing an epic farewell show, Back to the Beginning, at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham.
Addressing fans in a lengthy YouTube video in September 2025, Osbourne’s son Jack recalled that in his final weeks of life, his father basked in the afterglow of his star-studded final show.
“After his show, I stuck around for a week with my kids and hung out at the family house in England, and it was awesome,” Jack recalled. “My dad was in an amazing mood. He was really happy. Every day he was opening up the newspaper and seeing different reviews and different stories from the Back to the Beginning show, and it was great.”
Jack, who said he was “grateful” for the time with his dad, reiterated, “My dad was great, he was happy.”
He added that while his father had medical issues, his impending death was not on anyone’s “radar.” He also revealed that his famous father had hoped to spend the final chapter of his life with his children and grandchildren.
“My dad was so happy that he did the show, and he was happy to kind of move into this next phase of his life,” Jack said. “He wanted to spend more time in England. He wanted to spend more time with my kids. He wanted to spend more time just exploring different things as much as he could.”
Ozzy Osbourne Was Energized After ‘Back to the Beginning’
Ozzy Osbourne’s cause of death was listed as cardiac arrest and “acute myocardial infarction,” with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s disease with autonomic dysfunction listed as “joint causes.”
After his death was announced in July, a source told Page Sixthat the Back to the Beginning show had given hope to the singer. “It energized him — it filled him with life,” the insider said of the show. “He’d really been slowing down, and then after the show he was really back to be being himself. It’s a beautiful ending.”
Another insider told People magazine that Osbourne’s final days were happy ones. “Ozzy’s final days were spent in England, surrounded by family, music, and in the place he called home. He was in peace,” the insider said.
The Osbourne family members are happy to have the memories of the Back to the Beginning show. In a post shared to Instagram, Jack shared backstage footage of Ozzy smiling and greeting fellow rock legends such as Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Metallica’s James Hetfield. The heavy metal musicians also posed for a group photo with Ozzy front and center, sitting on a black throne.
“Forever Grateful to have this moment in time documented,” Jack Osbourne captioned the post.
