A once dilapidated portion of downtown Reno is breathing new life after a $400 million investment, and more development could be on the way in the future.
On Monday, local officials recognized five years of investment in the city’s Neon Line District, which includes the J Resort’s hotel, casino, festival grounds, and its new 4th Street entrance.
J Resort President Jonathan Boulware and Jacobs Entertainment teased more potential additions down the line, including a 4,000-seat, Vegas-style showroom, 600-room tower expansion, housing units, and a new Reno arch.
“We have three (arches), with the first one in 1926. And why not be able to have that Reno arch on West 4th Street?” said Boulware.
Any future expansions aim to continue revitalization efforts in the pocket of downtown Reno.
“It was a very dangerous area for people to walk. And so today it’s walkable there, there’s entertainment. There are art sculptures. It’s very safe. And it’s just a complete transformation in revitalization of an area that people avoided at all costs,” Boulware said.
Boulware did not provide a timeline for any of the projects involved in the renderings.
