CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Augusta men’s cross country team turned in strong performances Friday at the Royals Cross Country Challenge hosted by Division I Queens University, finishing second overall in the Blue 8K and third in the Gold 8K races against a competitive field of Division I and II teams.
Results
In the Blue race, sophomore Seth Eye paced the Jaguars with an eighth-place finish in 26:09.52. Freshman Francisco Palacios followed in 11th at 26:15.72, while freshman Benjamin Hall was close behind in 14th (26:18.60). Freshman Sam Segrist added a 21st-place finish with a time of 26:47.33, and senior Noah Shepherd rounded out the scoring five at 26:52.91. Additional Augusta competitors included Shahzeb Rashid (27:31.11), Carter Dehnke (27:36.23), Landon Amos (27:46.78), and Barrett Stepp (29:55.69).
In the Gold race, junior Nasrudin Mohamed led Augusta with an 11th-place finish in 24:51.29. Junior Andrew Helfers followed in 19th (25:04.38), while junior Oscar Curry (25:15.89) and freshman Caleb Darsey (25:16.32) finished just a step apart in 27th and 28th, respectively. Junior Eli Corn clocked 25:31.36 for 37th, while freshman Jackson Musto crossed in 25:40.90. Connor Mumford ran 26:12.47 and freshman DJ Oakes finished in 26:27.14.
The Jaguars’ second-place finish in the Blue race and third-place result in the Gold race continue a strong fall season, setting the stage for the postseason later this month.
Augusta returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Peach Belt Conference Championships in Milledgeville, Ga.
