James Gunn Confirms Superman Is Not the Strongest Hero in the Dcu

Superman might have brought DC back on track with its critical and commercial success, but James Gunn does not believe that Man of Steel is the strongest hero in the Dcu. He confirmed as much during a call-in to The Howard Stern Show in September 2025.

While talking about the HBO series Lanterns, Stern said that he has always believed Green Lantern could beat up Superman. Gunn agreed, saying:

“Absolutely. I think he’s pretty powerful. I think that a good strong match between Superman and Lantern, any of the Lanterns would be great.”
