One Tree Hill alum James Lafferty is down to do Dancing With the Stars under one condition.
The actor says if his show Everyone Is Doing Great succeeds on Netflix, he’ll sign on for DWTS.
DWTS pro Ezra Sosa is in support of Lafferty’s potential casting.
James Lafferty is self-professed bad dancer. But that could all change if his new show, Everyone Is Doing Great, hits the most-watched chart on Netflix.
The One Tree Hill alum had hearts skipping beats once again after stating in a TikTok video that he would compete on Dancing With the Stars under one condition: if Everyone Is Doing Great landed in the Top 10 TV shows in the U.S. on Netflix.
After DWTS pro Ezra Sosa responded to Lafferty’s initial post about his interest in the celebrity dance competition series, the 40-year-old actor said he’d be up to boogie down if his request to fans was fulfilled.
“He’s hot I’m down,” Sosa, 25, commented on Lafferty’s video, which created a firestorm of love last week for the potential casting on the upcoming 35th season.
Lafferty responded with another TikTok earlier this week, thanking Sosa for being “very kind” and noting, “You’re not so bad yourself.”
“I’ve been thinking a lot about this and I’m going to do it. Yeah, I’m going to do Dancing With the Stars. I’m down,” Lafferty said in the video, adding, “I have one condition: that Everyone Is Doing Great makes the Top 10 TV shows on Netflix in the U.S. That’s my condition. I will come and do Dancing With the Stars, and be happy to do Dancing With the Stars, if Everyone Is Doing Great cracks that Top 10 TV shows in the U.S. on Netflix. How do we make that happen? We watch the show. We finish the show. We tell friends about the show. Most importantly, we hit the double thumbs up on the show page on Netflix. I think if enough people do those things, or some of those things, we can make this happen.”
Everyone Is Doing Great is a comedy series created by Lafferty and his One Tree Hill costar Stephen Colletti. They independently produced and filmed the first two seasons before Hulu released some episodes. This year, Netflix acquired global rights to the show and released both seasons on May 11.
The series follows two actors—Jeremy (Lafferty) and Seth (Colletti)—who enjoyed massive success on a hit teen drama but struggle to find their footing years later. Cariba Heine and Lafferty’s real-life wife Alexandra Park also costar. (Lafferty and Park, 37, recently welcomed their first baby, son River.)

Lafferty not only wants Everyone Is Doing Great to succeed and earn a third season, but he’s seemingly truly interested in competing on DWTS.
“Trust me, I want it to happen. I want both things to happen because I am a terrible dancer and I’ve always wanted to fix that and I think Ezra can help me,” Lafferty insisted. “I think everybody wins here. What do you think?”
Lafferty first spoke about his DWTS prospects last week after a fan asked if he would ever go on the reality series.

He said his casting would not be good for the competition, per se, but would definitely benefit the “comedy aspect” of the show.
“I’m sure a lot of you have seen me dance before— on One Tree Hill, maybe there’s a little bit in season 2 of Everyone Is Doing Great, um, wouldn’t go well for me,” he joked.
Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Disney and ABC about Lafferty’s potential DWTS casting.
