Strictly Come Dancing’s Tom Skinner has revealed the disturbing threats he faced after his meeting with JD Vance. The former Apprentice star and the US Vice President shared a meal during Vance’s recent trip to the UK.
Nevertheless, Tom, recognized for his polarizing online views, admitted that many were angered by his connection. The duo savored a summer cookout in the Cotswolds, with Tom posting a snapshot of them together on his social media.

The upcoming Strictly participant disclosed that he was flooded with death threats afterward, with people branding him as a political figure. Despite this, Tom insists that he has no involvement in politics and could only offer perspective on world affairs if questioned. “Now the left seems to be attacking me every day on social media,” he observed.
In an interview with The Sun, he continued: “The right seems to see me as this figurehead and it’s all been a bit much for me, if I’m honest with you.”, reports the Daily Star.
“I was getting death threats and people calling me controversial. I was thinking, what have I ever done? What have I ever said that’s controversial?”.
“When you actually go through my tweets, apart from saying that knife crime is bad in London, yeah?” He also disclosed that he had been receiving death threats for years before he added: “I didn’t see it as anything more than a barbecue, if I’m honest with you. But I’ve been turned into this political figure that I’m actually not.”
Despite welcoming the invitation to the barbecue with Vance and enthusiastically sharing a photo with the prominent politician, Tom admitted he had been nervous about the encounter.
Nevertheless, his worry was more about what outfit to wear rather than any potential controversy, reports the Mirror.
Looking back on the meeting, Tom characterized the politician as “a normal bloke”.
“We spoke about English cheese being so much better than American cheese, West Ham United and how they call football ‘soccer’.”
Even though their interaction triggered a massive backlash on social media, Tom said he has no second thoughts about the encounter. Rather, he called it an amazing chance to share a meal with one of the most powerful people in the world.
He revealed that regardless of the vice president’s positions and whether he supports them or not, it was a “wow” moment in his life.
