“I’ve been extraordinarily lucky,” Smart said in a 2025 joint ELLE interview with fellow comedy icon Carol Burnett. “I don’t know why, but I have.” That remarkable luck only continued tonight when she accepted the award for Best Actress in a TV Comedy Series at the 2026 Golden Globes. Tonight’s honor marks Smart’s third Golden Globes win out of four nominations—in 2022, 2023, 2025, and 2026—each of which have honored her performance as comedian Deborah Vance in the HBO comedy series Hacks.
Taking the stage for the third time at the Globes tonight, she joked that she was a “greedy bitch” for having accumulated not one but three statuettes.

“What can I say, I’m a greedy bitch. Thank you to the Golden Globes—I am absolutely thrilled to be here. I’m one of the luckiest people, not in this room, in this entire business. It does not go unappreciated. I cannot tell you—I have the best bosses, I have the best showrunners, I have the best cast, led by the brilliant Hannah Einbinder. My kids…I’m just surrounded by so much support, and this show has been such an incredible journey. Our writers’ room, God bless you all. Thank you so much. There’s just a lot that could be said tonight; I said my rant on the red carpet, so I won’t do it here. Thank you. But let’s all do the right thing. I think everybody in their hearts knows what the right thing is to do. So let’s do the right thing.
The aforementioned red-carpet “rant” took place earlier in the evening, when Smart told Entertainment Tonight reporter Kevin Frazier that filming on Hacks season 5 was going well. However, she added, “Everything’s kind of overshadowed by everything that’s going on right now in our country…I feel like we’re kind of at a turning point in this country, and I hope people can keep their heads because that’s actually, really, the hardest thing, I think, is to keep our heads. It’s going to take a lot of courage and concerns, but I think that’s important.”
