Jeff Bezos is officially cutting ties with the city that built his empire. The Amazon founder has sold his Seattle mansion for a staggering $63 million, according to Puget Sound Business Journal — a transaction that says just as much about his real estate portfolio as it does about his post-wedding priorities with Lauren Sánchez.
Bezos bought the Hunts Point estate back in 2019 for $37.5 million. Five years, one cross-country move, and a very public relationship later, he walked away with more than $25 million in profit. The property sits on Lake Washington in King County, about seven miles from Amazon HQ — the same HQ Bezos now seems in no rush to orbit. Designed by Seattle architect Jim Olson of Olson Kundig, the three-bedroom, four-bathroom home spans 3.2 acres with 302 feet of Lake Washington waterfront. It also includes a 2,190-square-foot dock valued at $280,000, built to support both boats and seaplanes — a fitting detail for a man who once made next-day delivery a way of life.

For the past two years, he and Sánchez have been living in Miami, where their life looks less like a tech origin story and more like a multibillionaire honeymoon. The real estate move fits neatly into that picture. Bezos’ ownership stake in Amazon has quietly slipped below 10% as he’s unloaded more than 100 million shares in the past year. (In 1997, when the company went public, he owned 43%.) But with a net worth north of $220 billion, no one’s losing sleep over the math.
There’s also the legal drama that’s followed the couple since their earliest days. Bezos and Sánchez are still tied up in a defamation case with her estranged brother, Michael Sánchez. Earlier this year, Bezos’ legal team filed a motion asking him to pay more than $182,000 in attorney’s fees after a Los Angeles court ruled in Bezos’ favor. A house sale may not be related, but it is one more line on an increasingly busy post-wedding ledger.
All of this lands a few months after their lavish Venice wedding, which sent the rumor mill into overdrive — including talk (denied by those close to Bezos) that he might be eyeing Condé Nast. While that remains pure speculation, it wouldn’t be out of character for someone who already snapped up The Washington Post for $250 million in cash back in 2013.
For now, though, Bezos and Sánchez seem firmly planted in Florida, far from Seattle’s drizzle and Amazon HQ. Selling a $63 million house may not scream romance, but in Bezos-land, it’s a marital move all the same.
