Jelly Roll has spoken about his divorce from Bunnie XO, saying “nobody cheated on nobody” shortly after she spoke publicly for the first time about the split.
Speaking to a crowd at a concert in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Jelly Roll confirmed that the pair remained “best friends” and said there had been no infidelity, addressing cheating rumors that appeared to be circulating online.
“I wasn’t going to talk about this tonight,” he said. “While we’re talking about liars — the internet is a liar, too.
“It’s the only time and the only city I’m going to speak about this, so break your camera phones out now. Me and my wife are best friends. We will always be best friends. We just got off the phone earlier today. Nobody cheated on nobody. She just did a whole podcast about it. You can go watch it. Every word of it is the truth.”
Speaking on her Dumb Blonde podcast last week, Bunnie revealed that she and Jelly Roll still plan to raise a child together through surrogacy, despite their split. She said the pair intend to co-parent the baby, describing themselves as “the most unconventional couple you guys have ever encountered.”
“We’re going to co-parent together,” she said on Thursday’s episode, while also addressing online gossip.
“J is my best friend. Like, this isn’t what you guys think this is. Nobody cheated on the other person. We just served our purpose for each other.”
The former couple revealed in February that they had secured a surrogate after years of fertility struggles, and both have confirmed following the split that they remain close.
Jelly Roll added in his address to the crowd: “That will be my best friend forever. This is the only time I will ever speak about it. Bunnie, I love you baby. Thank you for those 10 years. They were incredible. Thank you for the next 10 years of friendship and 20 beyond that.”
According to court records, Jelly Roll filed for divorce in Williamson County, Tenn., on May 18, 2026, citing irreconcilable differences.
The argument that preceded the divorce filing
Bunnie XO shared details of the argument that occurred shortly before Jelly Roll filed for divorce, describing them as “the type of couple who never argued.”
Noting that the couple had “pretty much stopped communicating” over the previous year and a half, she said: “He would be holding things in. I would be holding things in, and that’s a recipe for disaster.
“On Mother’s Day, we had a little bit of an argument, which I don’t think the details are necessary. And in that argument, I was so fed up and so tired that I just looked at him and said: ‘Well, then file the [expletive] divorce papers.'”
Bunnie said she packed a bag and left, and that the pair did not speak for weeks afterward.
“He was so mad, and we were so emotional that he ended up doing exactly what I told him to do and filing the divorce papers,” she said.
Although she said the words in the heat of the moment, she said she did not expect him to actually follow through.
“Was I blindsided? Was this divorce mutual? No,” she said.
Even so, Bunnie maintained that “my husband and I are ending this marriage on the best possible terms,” adding that she had spoken with him for two hours shortly before recording the podcast.
A difficult fertility journey
Over their 10-year marriage, Bunnie XO and Jelly Roll have spoken openly about their fertility struggles.
Bunnie has previously said the couple tried multiple times to have a child together and lost four embryos, describing the process as “hellacious.”
She said the experience “wrecked me emotionally, spiritually, physically” and added that both she and Jelly Roll underwent hormone treatments as part of their fertility journey.
Bunnie described herself as becoming a “shell” during treatment, while saying Jelly Roll was a “nightmare to be around” once they began hormone treatments.
In her February 2026 memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, Bunnie XO wrote that the couple had found a surrogate and remained determined to have a child together.
“I’ve waited this long to have kids with someone I knew would be a great father — and to be able to make sure they have the best life,” Bunnie XO, 46, wrote of Jelly Roll, 41.
Bunnie is also the stepmother of Jelly Roll’s two children, Bailee Ann, 18, and Noah, 9.
