Jelly Roll updated fans amid his ongoing weight loss journey.
The singer has lost nearly 200 pounds.
Fans were shocked and amazed by his latest transformation.
Year three of Jelly Roll’s weight loss journey is coming to an end, and the singer marked the milestone in a big way: He shaved his beard.
“At this point, I’m sure some of you guys are exhausted by hearing about my weight loss,” he said to the camera in a recent vlog, which documented the process. “But a lot of things change when you start losing weight, and you realize things. One of the things I realized is: I don’t know what I look like.”
In other words, he hadn’t seen himself sans facial in years—in fact, his 17-year-old daughter had never seen him without a beard. “I’ve had a beard to try to cover up my double chin—which, I still am clearly gonna have a double chin,” he said. “The last time my face was shaved, I was fresh out of jail. I gotta feeling I’m gonna look like a Ninja Turtle.”
On camera in his bathroom, the star took clippers to his beard and didn’t look back. He filmed his family’s reaction—which was mixed—and then appeared bare-faced in a later clip. “This was crazy,” he said. “You know, one of the reasons I even started growing a beard was because I was so obese, it was just easier to cover up what was happening… I thought my chin went [out] at least a half-inch further than it actually went… failed science experiment, ya’ll.”
Fans and followers loved the transformation and, more importantly, that the country artist is continuing to focus on his health. In October 2022, when he started his weight loss journey, he weighed over 500 pounds. In April, while appearing on Pat McAfee’s Big Night Aht, he revealed that he’s lost nearly 200, which he has previously explained happened without drugs like Ozempic. “I started at 540 pounds,” he announced. “I’m 357 pounds [as of] this morning, baby!” He added that he hopes to lose another 100 in the next year and go skydiving with his wife, Bunny Xo, in Sweden.
Another goal of his is to share his health and fitness journey as a Men’s Health cover star “by March of 2026,” he said last year on an episode of Bunnie’s Dumb Blonde podcast. “That’s my new goal. I want to have one of the biggest transformations.”
So far, he’s on track. As for his next milestone, he revealed in his latest vlog that he and a friend are currently training for and look forward to running the New York Marathon in 2026.
