Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb are sharing the major lessons they’ve learned from motherhood.
While speaking with PEOPLE exclusively at Sheinelle Jones‘ book launch party for her new book Through Mom’s Eyes, the Today with Jenna and Sheinelle co-host, 44, and the retired broadcaster, 61, opened up about the biggest lessons they’ve learned since becoming mothers. Bush Hager, who shares daughters Poppy, 10, and Mila, 13, and son Hal, 6, with husband Henry Hager, shares she’s learned how deep love can be as a parent.
“The biggest lesson I’ve learned from being a mother, I think, is how big your heart can feel [and] how much you can love,” she tells PEOPLE. “Because there’s no love like that.”

Kotb agreed with Bush Hager, adding that being a mom to daughters Hope Catherine, 7, and Haley Joy, 9, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman, taught her that “dreams do come true.”
“If you really want something like that in your life, you can have it—no matter your age, no matter the time,” she shares. “And of all the things that I feel like have gone right in my life, those two, Haley and Hope, are the two that really count these days. So I’ve learned the value of importance.”
Both Bush Hager and Kotb have been vulnerable about their journeys to and through motherhood over the years. The former first daughter candidly admitted that “logistics can be difficult” as her family has grown. However, she devotes herself to “making sure that each child has the love that I know I feel for them.”
While she often raves about her children on Today, Bush Hager also keeps it real, sharing, “Sometimes I hide from the kids in the pantry and just have a cheese stick.”

As for Kotb, her focus has shifted from work to family since announcing her departure from the Today show as co-anchor in September 2024. Last November, the famed journalist chatted with PEOPLE at the QVC Holiday House event in New York City and shared how her life has taken on a new, slower pace since her departure.
“It’s been super fun. I mean to kind of have control of your own schedule, which is really weird. I didn’t actually know how I would do,” she told PEOPLE. “But something happened where like everything’s in slow motion now.”
“When I sit with my kids, it’s slow, everything’s kind of slowed down. I used to be like, ‘Shoes off. OK, come on, we’re late.’ All I said was, ‘We’re late, eat that, go to bed,’ ” she added. “Like those were my phrases, and now it’s like we’re sitting, we’re breathing together — like we’re just having moments. I love the rhythm.”
