Jennifer Aniston made a rare comment about ex-husband Brad Pitt during a conversation with Friends costar Lisa Kudrow for Variety’s Actors on Actors series.
The remark stemmed from an unexpected phenomenon that occurred whenever major A-list stars made cameo appearances on the cult-favorite series.

“The movie stars that came on Friends: Brad, Bruce Willis, Julia Roberts, Isabella Rossellini — we had so many — Sean Penn,” Aniston told Kudrow. “They were always nervous. Remember? Susan Sarandon, Kathleen Turner. I’m thinking, ‘These are movie stars that are coming to our sitcom,’ and they would be so nervous! I was so surprised by that. The audience — they were afraid of the audience.”

When Pitt appeared on the sitcom, he was married to Aniston. The two first started dating in 1998, got engaged in 1999, and tied the knot in 2000, as reported by People. They announced their separation in 2005, with the Fight Club actor moving in with future ex-wife Angelina Jolie.

After they broke up, the Along Came Polly actress famously said, “I really do hope that someday we can be friends again. I will love [Brad] for the rest of my life. He’s a fantastic man. I don’t regret any of it, and I’m not going to beat myself up about it” (via InStyle).
In recent years, the two have indeed been spotted having friendly exchanges.
Pitt and Jolie went on to have six children together, but separated in 2016. The Inglorious Basterds actor is now dating Ines de Ramon, while Aniston has been in a sweet relationship with the hypnotherapist Jim Curtis since 2025. She was previously married to fellow actor Justin Theroux between 2015 and 2018.

For her part, the Morning Show star opened up about struggling with fertility in an unforgettable cover interview with Allure in 2022.
Addressing a really hard time she’d had in her “late 30s, 40s,” the starlet told the publication, “I was trying to get pregnant. It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road.”
At the time, Aniston hadn’t spoken about this publicly. “All the years and years and years of speculation… It was really hard,” she told Allure. “I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it. I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed.”
