USA Today has hired Jennifer Hassan as its first dedicated Royals reporter, expanding the publication’s entertainment coverage with a new vertical focused on the British monarchy.
Hassan joins the publication after more than a decade at The Washington Post, where she most recently served as an Evening News Reporter based in London. According to her LinkedIn profile, she has covered international breaking news, politics and culture, with a particular focus on the British royal family and major global events. Before joining The Washington Post, Hassan worked as a digital journalist and editor for several international news organizations, building expertise in audience engagement and fast-paced digital reporting.
At USA Today, Hassan will deliver breaking news, enterprise stories, features, and audience-focused reporting on the royal family as part of USA Today Entertainment. Her coverage is expected to span the pageantry and controversies surrounding the monarchy, as well as its broader cultural impact.
The move underscores continuing U.S. media fascination with the House of Windsor, particularly following King Charles III’s recent high-profile speech before Congress.
“Jennifer brings the speed to break news and the depth to put it in context,” Wendy Naugle, executive editor of entertainment for the USA Today Network, said in a statement. “We are thrilled to have her as we continue to expand our entertainment content.”
