Jennifer Lawrence advocates for women directors in Hollywood
Jennifer Lawrence has recently acknowledged women working in Hollywood from production company to fellow female actresses.
The Hunger Games star notes that women movie-makers helped shaped her outlook in the industry as she worked with many of them including Lori Perry on The Poker House to Debra Granik on Winter’s Bone, Jodie Foster on The Beaver, Susanne Bier on Serena and others
Interestingly, Jennifer shares that she received her first Oscar nomination for her work on Winter’s Bone.
“My first movie ever was a female director,” says the 35-year-old during an appearance on Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast.
No Hard Feelings actress mentions that she “ended up working with more female directors than male directors as a teenager. It was a formative experience”.
“I realised it was possible for me to direct, too. I’ve wanted to do it since I was a teenager,” continued Jennifer.
Silver Linings Playbook actress recalls, “When I went into movies in my 20s and now, I always tell the director that and they include me.”
“A lot of them have been nice and have included me in the [filmmaking] process and have let me see post,” admits Jennifer.
Elsewhere in the interview, the Passengers actress even calls out men directors in the industry, saying, “I love white men? Oh my god! If I could just be their champion. They are so misunderstood.”
Meanwhile, Jennifer opens up that she’s written a comedy movie that she “would love to direct and will star in it as well”.
