Jennifer Lopez’s kids are all grown up—so grown up, in fact, that they’re getting ready to move out of her home and leave for college.
Yesterday, the superstar stopped by for a chat on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and while there, she got emotional speaking about her twins, Max and Emme, who are now 18 years old and getting ready to graduate high school.
“Don’t talk about it because [I] start crying,” Lopez told host Jimmy Kimmel, adding that she will absolutely be crying at the kids’ upcoming graduation ceremony. She admitted she has “been crying for two months” in anticipation.

Elsewhere during the interview, Lopez said that it was when she started writing her kids’ notes for their high school yearbook that the fact really hit her: She’s going to be an empty nester soon. “When I tell you, the tears—it took me two days to write those things,” she said.
The “All I Have” singer revealed that Max and Emme will be going to different colleges, but she did not disclose which schools, or what they will be studying. She noted simply that she wants them to “be happy and go where they want to go and do what they want to do.”
“We’re going to pack up their rooms here and they’re going to take all the things that they want to take to their dorm. Then they’re going to realize that their dorms are too small and they’re going to miss home,” J.Lo hilariously added. “I hope they’ll want to come back real soon. That’s my plan.”
While the singer-actor is sad to see her kids move out, she’s excited for what their futures hold.
“All year people were asking me, ‘They’re going away to college, is it going to be terrible?’ I’m like, ‘No. It’s going to be great,’” she said. “They have big dreams it’s going to be great.”
