“Jeopardy!” host Ken Jennings spoke out after a recent clue sparked backlash.
During the Oct. 24. episode of the beloved game show, even Jennings was confused by the clue that read, “A.I. generated the TikTok Image of this pig/human eventually killed by Tim Cheese.”
All three contestants were stumped, looking at Jennings with blank expressions. Before reading the answer, which was “Who is John Pork?”, Jennings admitted, “I didn’t understand any of that.”
It wasn’t the difficulty level of the question that ruffled feathers with fans, but how the online meme was described.
“John Pork isn’t ai dont slander him!” one viewer commented on the official “Jeopardy!” Instagram account.
“JOHN PORK IS NOT AI,” another person chimed in.
“Upset I immediately knew the answer even with the question phrased incorrectly, he was NOT AI!” a third person commented.
Jennings addressed the controversy in a TikTok video posted on Saturday, Nov. 1.
“When we played a clue recently on ‘Jeopardy!’ about John Pork, I remarked that I didn’t understand a word of it,” he began. “Well, I’ve had the chance to learn quite a bit since that clue aired about the late Mr. Pork, including the fact that some viewers took exception with our description of him as AI-generated. Now, even though AI is used heavily in many of his TikToks, it’s possible that wasn’t the best wording to refer to his original appearances.”

Jennings then asked the deceased character for forgiveness.
“John, I hope you’ll forgive me and all of us at ‘Jeopardy!’ for any insult we may have committed against you or your memory,” he said.
“The concept of jeopardy issuing an apology to John Pork,” one fan quipped in the comments section.
John Pork, who is a digitally created man with a pig’s head, is a popular meme on Instagram, TikTok, and other social media platforms. He’s said to have been murdered by another internet character, anthropomorphic rat Tim Cheese.
