Hey, if anyone cares about ballet and opera, it’s definitely “Jeopardy!” contestants.
On Monday, the long-running game show decided to throw a little shade at actor Timothée Chalamet after he made controversial remarks about the classical art forms.
“I admire people, and I’ve done it myself, who go on a talk show and say, ‘Hey, we’ve got to keep movie theaters alive, we’ve gotta keep this genre alive,’ the “Marty Supreme” star said in part at a Variety & celebrity.land town hall last week.
“I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera or things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though like no one cares about this anymore.’ All respect to all the ballet and opera people out there,” said the actor, who’s starring in a movie about the wildly popular sport of… ping-pong.
In response to Chalamet’s remarks, “Jeopardy!” dug into its archives and posted a clip on Instagram from its Second Chance tournament final, which aired in January and just happened to feature “Ballet & Opera” as a category.
“NOBODY @ HIM 👀” the caption reads, along with the hashtags #Jeopardy! and #timotheechalamet.
Over on YouTube Shorts, the show got even more direct.
“Timothée Hates to See this Category Coming 👀” it wrote in the video’s description.
The most satisfying part is that the episode’s contestants correctly answered every clue in this category.
Social media users were also delighted by the hijinks.
“OHHH JEOPARDY WENT THERE👀” an Instagram user said.
“Jeopardy to the arts: I got your back,” another user commented.
“You know you did wrong when Jeopardy is throwing shade at you,” echoed a third user.
“That’s weird… They got every answer correct… Almost like people care…” a YouTube commenter said.
“Would’ve been objectively hilarious if they didn’t know a single one,” another YouTube user commented.
