The studio and Mandalay Pictures announced Monday they have set a Nov. 6, 2026, release date for Archangel, an action pic set to star Caviezel alongside Olivia Thirlby, Garret Dillahunt and Shea Whigham.
The newly announced project originated when Mandalay brought Sony a script by Chris Papasadero and Randall Wallace, with Caviezel attached to star and David Zelon and Peter Guber on deck to produce. Next, Will Eubank was attached to direct.
Caviezel is best known for his acclaimed performance as Jesus in Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ, one of the highest-grossing independent films of all time. He more recently starred in the box office breakout hit Sound of Freedom, and previously led the long-running CBS series Person of Interest.
