Jimmy Fallon 45th Annual People's Choice Awards - Arrivals

Jimmy Fallon pulled the plug on a scheduled engagement at the eleventh hour just as his TV colleague Jimmy Kimmel had his show axed from the airwaves.

Kimmel made a comment on conservative activist Charlie Kirk‘s suspected murder, claiming that the “MAGA gang” is trying to point fingers at everyone else but themselves.

President Donald Trump swiftly cheered ABC’s decision to yank Jimmy Kimmel’s program while calling for other networks to do the same with Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers‘ respective shows.

Jimmy Fallon abruptly cancelled a public engagement in New York City on Thursday, moments after ABC axed his fellow talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel, from the airwaves.

According to the celebrity.land, “The Tonight Show” host was scheduled to appear at Fast Company’s Innovation Festival in New York City on Thursday, where he was supposed to join a session titled “Staying On Brand.”

He ended up being a no-show as event organizers confirmed that he pulled out at the last minute. The show went on as scheduled with marketing executive Bozoma Saint John and Fast Company editor Jeff Beer.

No official reason for Fallon’s cancellation was given; however, it comes amid Kimmel’s misfortune that has rocked late-night talk shows, sparking conversations on whether free speech still exists.

Jimmy Kimmel Made Some Now-Controversial Remarks About Charlie Kirk’s Alleged Shooter

In  Monday’s episode of his show, the embattled “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” host made a comment about slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk, saying that the “MAGA gang” was trying to score points with his assassination and claiming the alleged shooter to be “anything” but one of them.

“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” he said during his monologue on Monday.

Reports suggested he had hoped to use Wednesday’s episode to address the comments following the massive backlash that arose.

However, his hopes were dashed as ABC announced that the program would be removed from the network “for the foreseeable future,” hours after FCC chair Brendan Carr threatened to “take action.”

The situation has dragged the news network into a storm as critics slam it for bowing to political pressure.

Although Trump cheered the news network for the move, Hollywood stars and unions have criticized ABC.

Trump wrote on Truth Social that Kimmel’s misfortune was “great news for America” and congratulated ABC for having the “courage to do what had to be done.”

He slammed Kimmel for having “ZERO talent” and called on NBC to also axe Fallon and Seth Meyers’ shows.

Other public figures who supported the decision include Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who took to X and wrote, “When a person says something that a ton of people find offensive, rude, dumb in real time, and then that person is punished for it, that’s not cancel culture. That is consequence for your actions.”

Vice President J.D. Vance took to X to jokingly congratulate Secretary of State Marco Rubio, “the new host of ABC’s late-night show!” but didn’t mention anything about Kimmel’s suspension.

However, many Hollywood stakeholders and public figures were far from pleased about the situation.

Actress Jean Smart took to her Instagram account and shared a picture of herself with Kimmel, noting that she was “horrified” by his cancellation.

“What Jimmy said was FREE speech, not hate speech. People seem to only want to protect free speech when it suits THEIR agenda,” she said.

Rosie O’Donnell said the move was “unacceptable” in an Instagram post before adding that corporate executives are “bowing to the orange monster — America is no more.”

Former President Barack Obama called out the Trump administration, writing on X that Kimmel’s recent cancellation “has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like.”

Kimmel has yet to speak on his suspension, but is reportedly “p-ssed” with ABC and is now looking to sever ties with them.

He and his longtime sidekick, Guillermo Rodriguez, were seen leaving the L.A. studio where the show is broadcast, looking visibly upset and defeated.

Insiders have revealed that he’s going to put up a fight and is looking to join forces with Stephen Colbert to “fight for what they believe in.”

“Jimmy is pissed over the decision to suspend him and the show, and he isn’t going to take this lightly, as he is actively looking for ways to get out of his contract,” a source told Daily Mail. “This is the last straw, and Jimmy is now looking to forever break his relationship with ABC forever.”

They continued, “Stephen Colbert is already looking to get Jimmy on his show as a guest in the next couple of days or within the week. Now they both are in the same predicament with being against the Trump administration, and they are now looking to do something together to fight for what they believe in.”

The source added that the pair “don’t want Trump to win in any way or fashion at all, and this has lit an extreme fire under Jimmy’s -ss to continue to tell it like it is and be real to himself.”
