JioStar exec Ramesh Mundhra is leaving the Indian content giant for Subedaar producer Abundantia Entertainment.

He takes up the role of Head – Business Affairs, Strategy and Operations at the company, which has this year launched the likes of Daldal, Maa Behen and Subedaar, which topped Prime Video charts in 31 countries earlier this year and starred Anil Kapoor.

Mundhra spent 18 years at JioStar and its predecessor Viacom18 in areas such as studios, production, and strategy , working on titles such as Padmaavat, Andhadhun, and Fighter among others. Prior to Viacom18, he worked in in finance and business operations at Tata Sky.

Vikram Malhotra, founder and CEO of Abundantia: “As Abundantia scales up in ambition — creatively, operationally, and commercially — it is critical that we have the right people architecture in place. Ramesh brings a unique combination of strategic rigour and operational depth that this upcoming phase demands. His experience across the full content value chain makes him ideally suited to strengthen the way we build and grow Abundantia. ”

Abundantia’s pipeline for the second half of 2026 and and 2027, includes the likes of Netflix series Family Business, Prime Video movie Sundar Poonam and theatrical release Chiranjeevi Hanuman – The Eternal, along with a slate of films driven by AI from Abundantia’s AI content vertical, aiON.

“Abundantia has consistently and profitably backed impactful stories and storytellers that matter, and at scale,” said Mundhra. “I am excited to join at a time when the entertainment landscape is being reshaped by evolving audiences and technologies like AI. I look forward to working with Vikram and the team to build further on a strong base and contribute to the next chapter of Abundantia’s growth.”
