CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — After being dropped from their flagship station almost one year ago, “The John Boy and Bill Show” will sign off the airwaves for good, WIMZ 103.5 announced in a job posting on Tuesday.
The show’s duo, John Isley and Billy James, launched in 1981 when they started airing mornings on 107.9 WBCY Charlotte before moving to 99.7 The Fox (WRFX) in 1986.
The show reached its peak of over 100 stations when it moved to Premiere in the early 2000s. Now, the show airs on 37 stations across the South and Midwest. It’s still syndicated on WSFL-FM/Greenville, New Bern; WRCQ-FM/Fayetteville; WOBR-FM/Nags Head; WROQ-FM/Greenville; WIWF-FM/Charleston; and WMXT/Florence.

The show will cease production at the end of the year.
