Apple TV has released the first-look images for Sam Hargrave’s action-adventure based on the iconic toys from Mattel, and set a global release date of Oct. 9. The news was revealed on Tuesday during the streamer’s press day at Santa Monica’s Barker Hangar where Cena appeared alongside his cast mates, seen below.
Matchbox The Movie is described as “a globetrotting adventure” centering on a group of close friends since childhood. Their lives are upended when an undercover CIA agent Sean, played by Cena, who is their long-absent leader, returns to their small town. He unwittingly gets them mixed up in a frantic international pursuit to save the world. Cena stars opposite Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris and Arturo Castro. Corey Stoll, Bill Camp, Danai Gurira and Golshifteh Faranhani round out the cast.
