The movie was released in theaters on June 6, 2025, and hit premium video on demand on July 1. Starz confirmed the streaming release date, announcing that the R-rated action thriller will join its platform at the end of September.
The film stars Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro, a ballerina-turned-assassin on a revenge mission against her father’s killers. The story takes place between John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4.
Keanu Reeves reprises his role as John Wick in a cameo appearance. The cast also includes Anjelica Huston as The Director, Ian McShane as Winston, the late Lance Reddick as Charon, Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus as Daniel Pine, among others.
From the World of John Wick: Ballerina earned $137.3 million worldwide against a reported $90 million budget (via Box Office Mojo). It became the 25th highest-grossing movie of 2025. The film holds a 76% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 92% verified audience score, which earned it a Certified Fresh rating. Despite this reception, it ranked as the second lowest-grossing entry in the John Wick franchise. Only the original 2014 film earned less, with $86.1 million.
Ana de Armas described her preparation for the film as transformative, telling Moviefone, “I enjoyed every second of it. I also was in a lot of pain at times, but it was part of the process, and it just transformed me.”
The actress continued, “It pushed me to my limits, it changed my body, it changed my endurance, my discipline, and the way I just approached my everyday life during filming.” She added, “It was just great to feel like you’re getting good at something, like you’re learning new stuff.”
