Music fans at Bird and Betty’s in Beach Haven got a Jonas bonus Saturday, Aug. 16.
Kevin Jonas of the Jonas Brothers and Jonas hype man “Big Rob” Feggans joined the Gab Cinque Band on stage to perform the Jonas hit “Burnin’ Up” at the packed club. The crowd, with arms outstretched, screamed the lyrics as Kevin played.
“It happened,” said singer Gab Cinque of Freehold. “It was awesome!”
Kevin Jonas had a day off from the JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown tour, which began Aug. 10 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. Kevin and his wife, Danielle, are regulars on Long Beach Island and the guitarist previously jammed at Bird and Betty’s in 2023.
The band was told Kevin was in the house before they started playing.
Kevin Jonas of the Jonas Brothers performs onstage during the 2024 March Madness Music Festival at Margaret T. Hance Park on April 06, 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona.
“We started the show and we saw them up there, they were right at the side of the stage on the railing watching and they watched the whole first set,” Cinque said.
“In between our set break, I told the guys in my band let’s lean this song right now and in 30 minutes we did the best we could. So I walked up to him and said we learned ‘Burnin’ Up’ if you want to play? He said, ‘You want me to play?’ I was yeah! He came down and he took my guitarist’s guitar and we did the song.”
Kevin took band member Matt Stanley’s guitar. The band also includes Fran O’Brien on guitar; Aaron Manzo, bass; and Anthony Flora, drums. They play classic rock and originals.
In 2023, Kevin joined Split Decision on stage at Bird and Betty’s for the Jonas Brothers’ “Sucker.” Bird and Betty’s, formerly the Ketch, hosted the wedding reception for musician Jack Antonoff and actress Margaret Qualley in 2023 attended by Taylor Swift, Lana Del Rey, Channing Tatum, Zoë Kravitz and Qualley’s mom, actress Andie MacDowell.
The Jonas Brothers, native of Wyckoff, played Herseypark Stadium in Hershy, Pa. on Sunday, Aug. 17.
