The businessman feels lucky he can take a break from work to give learning how to dance his all – and admits he is getting more attention online now he’s on TV once a week
Jordan Dargan is taking a break from the day job to fully focus on Dancing With The Stars.
The Apprentice finalist also hopes to break into acting whenever his time in the competition comes to an end.
Jordan is the founder of 3D Animation Studio Rendify, but isn’t working on any projects at the moment while competing on the hit RTÉ show.
He told RSVP Live: “At the moment I’m full on in this. I’m a man, so I’m not a great multitasker!
“I’ve taken some time off. I run my own 3D animation studio so I was very lucky in the sense that I could say I’m not going to take any projects on for the time I’m on the show.
“I like to put my all into things. I don’t think about anything else, I don’t do anything else, I just really hone in on what I’m doing.”
Jordan is no stranger to reality television but hopes to break into acting in the near future.
“I’m acting as well,” he said.
“I’ve been auditioning a lot, particularly during the show and that’s been quite cool.
“Animation is one area of storytelling, dancing is another and then with acting, it is something I seriously want to get into.
“I just love storytelling.”
Although he is busy with Dancing With The Stars, Jordan has been keeping up to date with the new season of The Apprentice on BBC.
It features Irish contestant Conor Galvin and Jordan now has a whole new perspective on the show.
He said: “It’s been cool watching it after being on it.
“I’ve never had a season like this, because I just view it completely differently now.
“I’ve a lot of sympathy for the contestants – I know that behind the scenes there’s other stuff going on and what not.
“I love the Irish guy Conor, he’s been smashing it and he’s coming across very well.
“My mam is from Cork so I’m a little bit biased, but I wish him all the best and hope he goes all the way.”
Jordan earned the first 10s of the season on last week’s Dancing With The Stars after an emotional performance to Christy Moore’s The Voyager.
But he and pro partner Rebecca Scott aren’t feeling the pressure to replicate their marks this week.
“It was the first week where I genuinely didn’t care about the score and I wasn’t thinking about anything external, we were just thinking about what we were doing as a team,” he explained.
“I think that’s why we got the 10s. When you’re just focused on what you’re doing for your routine, things just fall into place.
“Three 10s is a great achievement, don’t get me wrong.
“It is one point away from a perfect score, so I can’t complain.”
Jordan has received more attention online since dancing to the nation each Sunday night, saying both men and women have slid into his DMs.
“I don’t really read DMs properly, I see them coming in on my message requests but I don’t pay any mind to them,” he said.
“It’s a mix of both [men and women] – and the men don’t hold back.
“Someone even made a page of pictures of my feet.”
Dancing With The Stars continues Sunday night at 6.30pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
