Viewers are always in for a good time when Josh Brolin is on the guest list of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Brolin, who published his memoir From Under the Truck: A Memoir in 2024, is a longtime friend of the show, regaling the host with terrific stories that leave the audience in stitches.
Brolin and Colbert’s adoration for one another is clear every time Brolin steps on the stage to chat with Colbert, but Brolin’s most recent appearance reached a new level. It’s just the kind of unhinged interview Brolin and Colbert are known for, and fans have come to expect and love.
On Friday, Brolin stopped by The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to share his 36-pound weight loss, among other tales, before the interview went (hilariously) off the rails. Brolin laid down on Colbert’s desk to inhale some of Colbert’s “funny.” That’s when Colbert became an impromptu masseuse and the laughs began.

Josh Brolin and Stephen Colbert Have Undeniable On-Screen Chemistry
Brolin and Colbert’s on-screen chemistry and appreciation for one another is clear each time Brolin visits the show. When Brolin last visited the show to promote his memoir, just after CBS announced it was canceling Colbert’s show, Brolin joked the cancellation was good as Colbert would have more time to spend on his boat, and he’d finally get time to watch Brolin in The Goonies.
Brolin even gifted Colbert a doll with the actor’s face on it, before the two recited poetry together in an epic display of their love of the classics.
When Does The Stephen Colbert Show End?
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert is scheduled to end in May 2026 after the end of the current broadcast season. Colbert has successfully hosted the show for 10 years, becoming one of the most revered voices in late-night television.
The Late Show began in 1993 and was hosted by David Letterman. The show’s end not only marks the end of Colbert hosting the show, but the end of CBS’ Late Show entirely.
Following the announcement, Colbert told his audience, “It’s not just the end of our show, but it’s the end of The Late Show on CBS. I’m not being replaced. This is all just going away.”
What’s Next for Stephen Colbert?
Colbert’s next moves include a guest spot on CBS’ Elsbeth, on which he portrays—no surprise—a late-night talk show host.
As for what’s next for Colbert, the talk show host has been tight-lipped. But fans eagerly await the news of where he’ll land next, and what wild interviews will follow.
