Julianne Hough is giving herself a well-deserved break when it comes to taking on new projects.
The Dancing with the Stars host, 37, just shared that she’s taking a step back from her intense schedule for the next few months while she dedicates all of her time to the reality show.
During an appearance on the Move With Heart podcast on Wednesday (September 24), Hough told host Melissa Wood Tepperberg that she wanted to see what it was truly like to focus on one project exclusively.
Hough explained that she is constantly juggling numerous projects because she so often feels creatively inspired and wants to do as much as possible — even if that means writing a book, hosting a show and planning a tour simultaneously.
“That’s been my thing for so long. I’m like, ‘I can see how this fits together and this and this…and then we can put that together and if I do this tour then this book can happen…literally architecting the world of what’s possible,” Hough shared.
She continued, “And all of it is possible, but like none of this s— is going to happen if I actually am distracted from the one thing that’s going to make that happen.”
Hough later shared that it’s all a part of the reason she decided to stop working on new projects during DWTS.
“I actually made it my goal to say — and by the way, what I’m about to say is insane that it’s the word ‘only’ — but what if I were to only do Dancing with the Stars this fall?” Hough shared. “Is that enough? And it absolutely is.”
Hough went on to say that she’s excited to “just let that be the thing” that she does for the next three months and see if it makes a difference in how she shows up.
“I always feel like I’m present, but I wonder if having the subconscious pulls will actually make me show up in a different way,” Hough said. “That show has given me so much, not just externally but internally. That has been my safety. It’s been my home. It’s been my family and I want to show up with full presence and I’m really excited.”
