Hollywood legend Julie Andrews will be the subject of a documentary film on Disney+ in 2027.

Julie Andrews has big news to share—but fans had quite the scare over how it dropped.
On July 22, fans of the actress learned that she would be the subject of a documentary about her life in Hollywood. According to an official press release from the Walt Disney Company, the film will offer fans a look at how Julie became an international icon through movies including Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music.
The documentary, set to premiere on Disney+ in 2027, will showcase “never-before-seen archive footage and candid new interviews,” highlighting how Julie moved through love, heartbreak, and other highs and lows to build her legacy.
“Courage, resilience, grace,” the caption read alongside a photo of the 90-year-old star on Instagram. “The definitive documentary on the legendary Julie Andrews is coming to Disney+ in 2027.”
While fans were understandably ecstatic, the announcement also gave them a fright. Upon seeing the photo of Julie, many thought she had died.
“MY HEART JUST DROPPED DON’T DO THAT,” one person screamed in the comments. “@disneyplus HOW DARE YOU SCARE US ALL LIKE THAT!!!” another shouted. “I never sat up so quick!! Don’t scare me that way 😩,” a different follower begged.
Fortunately, all is well, and Julie is just weeks away from releasing her new children’s book, Shy, on August 11, 2026.
As Julie’s team shared in another Instagram post, she’s thrilled for the documentary.
“We are delighted to announce that Julie will be the subject of a new documentary, directed by RJ Cutler (“Martha”), to be released in 2027!” the caption read. “More details to come … – Team Julie.”
