Criterion Premieres will release the 2025 historical drama Magellan on Blu-ray Disc and DVD June 23. Directed by Lav Diaz, the film follows the 16th-century Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan (Gael García Bernal) as he embarks on his epochal quest to cross the Pacific — a voyage that spirals into zealotry and violence when he attempts to introduce Christianity to the people of the Philippines. Presented in Portuguese, Spanish and Cebuano with English subtitles, the film offers a haunting elegy for a lost precolonial past, taking an anti-imperialist look at Magellan’s voyage behind García Bernal’s radically antiheroic portrayal. The film had a limited worldwide theatrical run at the end of 2025, and played in the United States starting in January, earning about half a million dollars at the global box office.

Neon April 14 began offering the indie horror film Alpha on for rental and sale on digital retail platforms. The story of a young girl’s family being impacted by an illness, and the memories, trauma, and fears that subsequently ripple through generations, will be available on Blu-ray Disc starting June 23. The disc release, which is distributed by Alliance Home Entertainment, includes an interview with director Julia Ducournau. The story follows the life of Alpha, a rebellious 13-year-old who lives with her single mother, a doctor who helps patients afflicted with a blood-borne disease that slowly turns the infected into marble. When Alpha arrives home one day with  a tattoo on her arm that becomes infected, her mother becomes concerned that she may have contracted the disease, setting off an unfortunate chain of events. The film stars Tahar Rahim as Alpha, alongside Golshifteh Farahani, Mélissa Boros, Emma Mackey, Finnegan Oldfield and Louai El Amrousy. Alpha premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2025 and was nominated for the Palme d’Or. It earned approximately $1 million at the box office.

The 2023 Anchor Bay Entertainment drama Artificial Flowers will be released on Blu-ray Disc June 23 from MVD Entertainment Group. Set entirely during a single evening in a sleek Los Angeles high-rise, the film follows two accomplished writers — Maeve (Emily Charouhas, “Desperate Housewives”) and Phelix (Andrew Villarreal, “Kaplan’s Korner”) — who find themselves entwined in a verbal and emotional tug-of-war. As wine flows and the city lights glow around them, their conversation quickly spirals beyond casual chatter. What begins as creative brainstorming becomes a raw excavation of their darkest secrets, past traumas, and fractured psyches. Through pointed questions, sly barbs, and hypnotic tension, Maeve and Phelix each adopt the other as a sounding board and mirror — pushing boundaries as they provoke confessions and revelations. In this intimate, psychologically charged dialogue, the performers fuel a gripping exploration of power dynamics, manipulation, and catharsis. Over the span of 85 minutes, artificial façades crumble, exposing how fragile, terrifyingly human bonds can become weaponized in the quest for truth — and perhaps redemption.

Neon will release director Boots Riley’s absurdist comedy I Love Boosters will be available for digital purchase June 23. The film follows a group of female shoplifters — headed by Keke Palmer — that join together to take down an exploitive fashion mogul played by Demi Moore. Following its debut at the SXSW film festival and subsequent nationwide theatrical release, Boosters generated $9.5 million at the box office. It arrives on DVD and as a 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray combo pack Sept. 22.

Writer-director James Gunn’s 2006 comedic horror film Slither will make its North American 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc debut in a limited-edition Steelbook release June 23 from Scream Factory, the horror imprint for Radial Entertainment’s Shout! Studios. Marking the feature directorial debut of Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy, 2025’s Superman), the film takes place in a small town besieged by a dark and slimy entity intent on devouring all life on Earth, and it’s up to local sheriff Bill Pardy (Nathan Fillion) and his team to stop the spread of rampant devastation and shocking mutilation. The cast also Michael Rooker, Elizabeth Banks and Gregg Henry. The two-disc set presents the film with a new 4K scan from the 35mm interpositive approved by Gunn and director of photography Gregory Middleton. The first disc is a 4K disc with the film presented in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, with a commentary by Gunn, Fillion and Rooker, and a second commentary with just Gunn and Fillion. The second disc is a regular Blu-ray Disc with the film and the two commentaries, plus additional bonus materials.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment June 23 will release the Adam Sandler movies Click and 50 First Dates on 4K Ultra HD disc with digital copy codes included. Both films are presented with a 4K transfer approved by their directors, with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos plus English 5.1 surround sound.

In the 2004 romantic comedy 50 First Dates, Sandler portrays Henry, who lives an enviable life in a Hawaiian paradise, spending every night with a beautiful tourist in search of an island fling. It’s a sweet life with no strings attached until he meets Lucy (Drew Barrymore). He and Lucy hit it off from the start, but the next day she acts like she doesn’t know him. It turns out she has short-term memory loss, so every night all memory of her day is erased.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the 2006 film Click finds Sandler playing harried workaholic Michael Newman who doesn’t have time for his wife (Kate Beckinsale) and children because he’s angling for a promotion from his ungrateful boss and earn a well-deserved promotion. So when he meets Morty (Christopher Walken), a loopy sales clerk, he gets the answer to his prayers: a magical remote that allows him to bypass life’s little distractions with increasingly hysterical results. But as Michael mutes, skips and scans past his family and his friends, the remote gradually takes over his life and begins to program him. The film was directed by Frank Coraci.

Arriving June 23 on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Disc from the Criterion Collection is 1988’s Hairspray from director John Waters. In the film, set in 1962, when Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad (Ricki Lake) shoots to stardom on a local TV dance party, her radical self-confidence and support for racial integration launch a movement that takes the city by storm. The film is presented with a new 4K digital restoration, supervised and approved by Waters, with a 2.0 surround DTS-HD master audio soundtrack and an alternate 5.1 surround DTS-HD master audio soundtrack. The 4K edition is a combo pack that includes one 4K disc of the film presented in Dolby Vision HDR, and one Blu-ray Disc with the film and bonus materials.

Also due June 23 on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray Disc from Criterion is Waters’ 1977 film Desperate Living. Completing a trashy trilogy in the wake of Pink Flamingos and Female Trouble, Desperate Living follows hysterical housewife Peggy Gravel (Mink Stole), who murders her husband with the help of her fed-up housekeeper (Jean Hill). The newfound “sisters in crime” escape to the bizarro shantytown of Mortville, a depraved penal colony presided over by a despotic queen (Edith Massey) whose tyranny pushes her subjects to shocking revolt. The film is presented with a new 4K digital restoration supervised and approved by Waters, with an uncompressed monaural soundtrack and an optional Italian dub track. The 4K edition is a combo pack with one 4K disc of the film presented in HDR, and one Blu-ray Disc with the film and bonus materials.

The 1990 romance drama White Palace will be released on Blu-ray Disc June 23 from Mill Creek Entertainment. In the film, a chance late-night encounter introduces 20-ish yuppie advertising executive Max Baron (James Spader) to 40-ish working class Nora Baker (Susan Sarandon), and a romance that turns his life upside-down. The film also stars Jason Alexander, Kathy Bates and Eileen Brennan.
