Justice League actor died suddenly following police questioning, inquest hears

An inquest into the death of Frazer Hammill has shed light on the tragic circumstances surrounding his passing, with the actor found dead at home after being questioned by police

Justice League actor Frazer Hammill was discovered dead at age 41 following police questioning. An inquest into the British star’s death has determined that he died by suicide and had left a note for a neighbor.

His passing occurred on December 30, 2025, just hours after his arrest by Lancashire Police in England, UK. The note directed the neighbor not to enter the property but to contact authorities, as he had taken his own life.

Area coroner Louise Slater ruled the DC actor’s medical cause of death as “1a hanging.” She stated, “Frazer Hammill passed away at his home on December 30. He was a single man, an actor, and very close to his family members.”

When officers and paramedics reached Frazer’s apartment shortly after 2 pm, resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and his death was officially recorded at 2.13 pm, reports the Mirror.

The coroner also noted that Frazer had left additional notes for family members and friends.

“Therefore, I am satisfied that this was a deliberate act and Frazer had put thought, planning, and intention into his actions,” she determined.

The inquest also heard testimony from Frazer’s sister Caroline, who described being in “complete shock” following his death. She explained that no family members had any indication he was “feeling low enough to end his life” and that he had appeared content.

Custody officers informed Doncaster Coroner’s Court that Frazer appeared to be in “good spirits” when he departed the station after his arrest. They reported having no concerns regarding his safety or mental health.

Tributes have been pouring in for the actor, who portrayed a “furious young man” in DC’s Justice League, a prison guard on ITV soap opera Emmerdale, and a detective constable on the BBC’s Happy Valley.

Emmerdale star Amy Walsh shared a photograph of Frazer on Instagram in December, writing, “Rest in peace, you wonderful man.” The actress, who portrays Tracy Shankley on the award-winning show, wrote on social media, “There are no words.” She also included a blue heart emoji in her comment.

The John Godber Company expressed that it was “impossible to put into words how much he will be missed by all of us who had the absolute joy of working with him”. They also described him as having a “huge loving heart” and an “enormous talent.”

Fellow actor Lamin Touray also shared a tribute, writing on social media, “You were one of the most talented, funny, kind-hearted, loyal, caring, wise people I’ve ever met; you taught me so much.”

He went on, “One of the most talented actors who became more than just a friend and colleague, you became family. You met my daughter just a few weeks ago. You came to watch the boxing at my house. All my family loved you and always spoke so highly of you!”

“Me and you spoke about our big plans for 2026. We set goals and aims. You were in such a good place emotionally, career-wise, FLYING, but it wasn’t enough to keep you with us,” he concluded.

Theatre Royal Wakefield described Frazer as a “talented actor” and a “wonderful collaborator”.

They noted his “warmth, professionalism and passion for his craft” would ensure he remained “greatly missed” by family and friends alike.

Beyond his roles in Emmerdale and Happy Valley, Frazer portrayed Kev in Abraham’s Point, took on the lead in The Heart of Thomas Hardy, played Luke in Shed Convention, and brought Jonathan O’Malley to life in Last Laugh.
