Justin Baldoni has denied It Ends With Us costar Isabela Ferrer’s harassment claims following his subpoena request.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly on Tuesday, August 19, Baldoni’s legal team wrote a response to Ferrer’s formal opposition to being subpoenaed. In the letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman, Baldoni’s lawyer argued that Blake Lively issued a subpoena against Ferrer first, which occurred back in February. Lively’s request was accepted by Ferrer’s attorney, per the docs.
Baldoni’s team claimed that they followed suit with their own subpoena for Ferrer, 24, to obtain “documents that she either neglected to produce or were not requested” by Lively’s team. According to the letter, Baldoni’s team requested the information from Ferrer’s lawyer “twice” — requests they claim were “ignored.”
Baldoni’s lawyers also explained that they did not reach out to Ferrer’s talent agent because they believed that her attorney was the “appropriate person with whom to communicate” regarding the subpoena.
They also denied Ferrer’s harassment allegations, arguing that they were not the first party to subpoena the actress in the case. Baldoni’s team requested that their motion to serve Ferrer be granted.
Baldoni’s response comes after Ferrer accused Baldoni of harassing her via subpoena and requested the court deny the motion. Ferrer worked alongside Baldoni, 41, and Lively, 37, in the 2024 Colleen Hoover adaptation, portraying the younger version of Lively’s character. Baldoni previously claimed that Ferrer was on the set of It Ends With Us and is a material witness in his ongoing litigation against Lively.

Lively and Baldoni’s legal drama began in December 2024, after the actress accused her costar and director of sexual harassment, creating a hostile work environment and creating a smear campaign against her. Baldoni vehemently denied the allegations and subsequently sued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds and publicist Leslie Sloane for alleged defamation and extortion. Lively, Reynolds and Sloane denied the allegations and filed to have the lawsuit dismissed. In June, the judge dismissed Baldoni’s lawsuit.
“The Court dismissed the frivolous $400 million Baldoni-Wayfarer lawsuit in its entirety. In the days that followed, Baldoni’s lawyer said the judge’s decision to dismiss their case was not a big deal as they promised to amend and refile it,” Lively’s lawyers said in a statement to Us at the time. “As per usual, that was not true. The Court’s dismissal of Baldoni’s sham lawsuit was a total victory after all.”
Following Lively’s legal win, Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, also shared a statement with Us regarding the team’s next legal steps.
“The Court’s decision on the motion to dismiss has no effect whatsoever on the truth that there was no harassment nor any smear campaign, and it does not in any way affect our vigorous defense against Ms. Lively’s claims,” the statement read. “Discovery is proceeding and we are confident that we will prevail against these factually baseless accusations. Instead of revising the existing claims, our clients will be pursuing additional legal options that are available to us.”
Lively’s lawsuit against Baldoni is still ongoing and scheduled for a March 2026 trial. Last month, Lively was deposed by Baldoni’s legal team in New York City.
