Kala Hiran producer Amit Jani has claimed that he received a second death threat within 24 hours, just hours after reporting an earlier threat to the police in Jodhpur. Jani had said on June 18 that he was receiving threats from Pakistan ahead of the film’s release.
In a fresh complaint, Jani said an unidentified caller threatened to kill him within three days. He also shared a picture of the complaint letter on X and wrote: “For the second time in 24 hours, I have been threatened with murder; the moment the first case was registered, the second threat arrived. I request @Igp_Jodhpur @CP_Jodhpur @RajPoliceHelp @PoliceRajasthan @RajPoliceHelp @RajGovOfficial @HMOIndia to kindly take the trouble of immediately registering a case and getting the person issuing this threat arrested (sic).”
According to the complaint letter shared by him, Jani said he had earlier the same day received a threat from “Pakistani terrorist Shahzad Brahmadag Bugti”, regarding which he had already lodged a complaint at the police station.
He further said that he again received a threatening call at 11.06 pm, and that the caller’s voice had been recorded. Jani claimed that the caller identified himself as a fan of film actor Salman Khan and threatened to murder him within the next three days.
In the complaint, Jani also said he was staying at No. 32, Ummed Heritage, and that this was the second death threat he had received that day within a span of three hours. His latest claim came hours after he reported the earlier threat to the police in Jodhpur.
Jani has alleged that he received one threat earlier in the day and another later that night, with both complaints linked to the period ahead of Kala Hiran’s release.
All about the case
The development came days after Salman approached the Delhi high court against the makers of Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, alleging that the film is based on his ongoing blackbuck poaching case. The case sought an immediate halt to the film’s release and demanded the removal of all posters and promotional material associated with the project.
On June 2, Amit Jani, reacted to the legal notice by Salman’s team and denied the superstar’s claims, saying that the film is based solely on information available in the public domain and focusses on the Bishnoi community’s struggle to protect wildlife.
Speaking exclusively to India Today, Jani said the notice was premature and maintained that the film is “not a biopic on Salman Khan.” Calling the legal action “unnecessary”, the producer added that apart from a poster, nothing about the film has been revealed so far.
He said he was surprised by the legal notice because only a poster had been released while the teaser was scheduled to arrive on June 20.
The film is directed by Bharat S Shrinate and produced by Amit Jani under Firefox Media Private Limited. The makers have described it as a suspense-action drama inspired by real-life legal battles and events.
