White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, 28, has maintained she’s no admirer of Bad Bunny, yet sharp-eyed observers uncovered proof suggesting otherwise.
Leavitt took aim at the Puerto Rican artist before his Super Bowl Halftime Show appearance. She also labeled Bad Bunny “sad” following his criticism of ICE agents during his Grammy acceptance speech this year. Despite her public stance, she incorporated a snippet from one of Bad Bunny’s tracks in an Instagram post. In her New Year’s Eve 2025 recap, Leavitt featured a mashup titled 2025 End Now. The compilation opened with Bad Bunny’s chart-topper DTMF.
DTMF ranks as Bad Bunny’s biggest hit on Spotify, which may explain its inclusion in the Instagram audio. Leavitt’s footage showed her in the Oval Office with her son Niko as the mashup played.
Her compilation also featured moments from the 2025 Super Bowl and quality time with loved ones. Professional highlights made the cut, too, with Leavitt adding footage of President Donald Trump.
Sharp observers weren’t fooled, though, quickly identifying the Bad Bunny track in her post. “Not her using bad bunny on her stuff,” one commenter noted with amusement. Another speculated, “She probably has no clue lmao,” while a third observer commented, “Bad Bunny playing for the recap is the funniest shit I’ve seen so far this year. And we’re only 19 days in, she lowkey loves him like the rest of us.”
Karoline’s Instagram post has resurfaced amidst her repeated criticisms of Bad Bunny. This comes two days after the Grammy Awards, where she was asked about her reaction to Bad Bunny’s call for ICE to be expelled from Minnesota following the fatal shootings of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti by federal officers.
“Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say: ICE out,” the artist declared during his acceptance speech. “We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans, and we are Americans.”
In response, Karoline expressed that she found it “very ironic and frankly sad” that celebrities who “live in gated communities, with private security, with millions of dollars to spend protecting themselves” were speaking against law enforcement.
She continued, “You didn’t hear this same type of uproar from celebrities in Hollywood when the previous administration allowed an invasion of our nation’s borders and allowed innocent women and girls like Jocelyn Nungaray and Laken Riley to be killed, raped, and murdered at the hands of people who should have never been in our country in the first place.”
Karoline also took a swipe at Bad Bunny prior to the Super Bowl halftime show last weekend. During a press briefing, she was asked if Trump would be watching the performance, or if he would tune into Turning Point USA’s so-called All-American Halftime Show.
“I think the president would much prefer a Kid Rock performance over Bad Bunny,” Karoline told those gathered. “I must say that.”
However, Trump contradicted her statement when he disclosed that he had actually viewed Bad Bunny’s performance. He posted about witnessing the rapper’s “absolutely terrible” show on Truth Social, and footage from his Mar-a-Lago viewing party verified that he had chosen to watch Bad Bunny instead of attending the Turning Point event.
