Kate Gosselin’s son Collin is releasing a memoir about his childhood in October

Kate Gosselin continues to downplay her estranged son Collin’s allegations.
The mom of eight, who gained fame on the reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8 with ex-husband Jon Gosselin, has been replying to comments on her TikTok videos related to Collin and the memoir he recently announced. He has said the book will chronicle the truth of his childhood that he was previously “afraid” to tell publicly.
In the comments section of a TikTok posted on Tuesday, June 30, one follower wrote to Kate, “Stay strong in your truth.”
“Thanks,” she replied. “It’s THE absolute truth. And I don’t feel I need to defend myself or put it all out there!”
Another follower wrote, “Truth always finds it [sic] way to the surface,” and Kate, 51, replied, “Sure does!”

Collin’s memoir, titled In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood, which will be released Oct. 13, “forced me to revisit some of the hardest moments of my life,” he wrote in an Instagram post announcing it.
“For a long time, I wasn’t sure I’d ever tell this story. Growing up, millions of people watched my life on television. People felt like they knew me. They knew my family. They watched me grow up. But there was so much they never saw,” he wrote in the caption. “For years, I kept those experiences to myself. Some because I was afraid. Some because I didn’t think anyone would believe me. And some because I just wasn’t ready,”
The memoir “isn’t the story people think they know,” the 22-year-old added. “It’s the story I’ve lived.”
After he announced the memoir on June 17, Kate made references to taking legal action against her son over his claims about her.
“If you are 100% certain that the accusations against you are lies, my suggestion would be to take him to court and sue him for defamation!” one person wrote in the comments section of a June 29 TikTok she posted.
“I can’t bc I’m a public figure,” Kate replied. “Rules are different unfortunately. Or I def would!”
In response to another comment, she shared that she had previously “consulted a high power LA attorney (you’ve definitely heard of him) years ago when other ppl were putting crazy stuff out there,” claiming she was advised, “The courts don’t honor it if you’re in the public eye.”

Under that same video, Kate shared an insight into how she’s coping with the ongoing feud between her and Collin. “Sending you love Kate! You know your truth and what a great mom you are,” one follower wrote. In response, she thanked the person and wrote, “I’m fine. Nothing surprises me anymore in that department 😳.”

Collin has hit back at his estranged mom’s comments. After she referenced taking legal action, he wrote in a post on his Instagram Stories on June 30, “Never forget the fact that my mom would write in her diary how she ‘had to pray to God to stop hitting me’ (this was while I was 2 years old by the way).”
“This is why using my voice to put these things in the light is so important,” he added. Collin has also publicly challenged Kate to take a lie-detector test and be questioned about his allegations.
