Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, have been keeping a staff scandal under wraps, as one female employee reportedly made a complaint against “inappropriate” comments made by “misogynistic” police officers working at Kensington Palace (the Wales’s London residence).
The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation into the allegations of misogynistic behaviour by officers in its Royalty and Specialist Protection unit; the findings are believed to have been serious enough to warrant formal misconduct action and it is reported that five Royalty and Specialist Protection officers have been banned from working in the royal home in future.
According to The Sun, the was decision made by senior Royal Household staff, who revoked their passes, and while the Waleses are believed not to have had direct involvement in the incident, they are aware of the situation.
An unnamed source also told the newspaper, “Comments from the officers were perceived as misogynistic though the allegations were tame and none were sexual in nature.”
Also commenting, a Met Police spokesperson said, “The reported behaviour falls below the high standards expected of officers, particularly those in frontline protective roles. As a result of our internal investigation into this matter, the officers received reflective practice to consider their actions and identify learning for the future.
“It remains a priority for the Met to ensure all officers and staff uphold the highest standards of professionalism, so we can continue to build trust and confidence with those we serve.”
