The Prince and Princess of Wales made their first appearance at the Royal Variety Show since Kate’s recovery from cancer in 2024, with the couple appearing ‘flirty’
The Prince and Princess of Wales have stepped out at the Royal Variety Show for their ‘own private date night.’
Princess Kate joined her husband at the beloved Royal event at London’s Royal Albert Hall, where Kate beamed for cameras in a figure-hugging dark green velvet gown featuring an off-the-shoulder detail. She completed her look with her signature loose curls and diamond drop earrings, matching William’s dapper look of a black velvet suit.
This marks the sixth time the royal pair have attended the show, and notably, the first since Kate’s recovery from cancer in 2024. The pair appeared in good spirits, with ‘flirty’ exchanges as they walked the red carpet and appeared in their royal box to watch the performance.

Speaking exclusively to the Mirror, body language expert Judi James has decoded the gestures and looks between the Prince and Princess of Wales.
James explained, “The royals haven’t always appeared totally keen to sit through the long hours of the Royal Variety show but William and Kate bring a new keenness and energy to the night, turning it into their own private date night as well as a charitable event.
“Kate and William are often at their flirtiest best when they are both fully glammed up for a red-carpet appearance and while Kate looks radiant here, William’s body language appears slightly bashful as he walks beside her. His hands hang slightly in front of his torso and his puckered smile suggests he’s slightly overwhelmed by the grinning glances Kate throws at him.”
She continued, “Kate looks confident here, walking ahead to greet the hosts but with one eyebrow raised in that flirty signal as she looks across to William and he responds with a hand on her back in a gesture of steering and protection.”
The Royal Variety Performance, now in its impressive 113th year, first took place in 1912, with King George V and Queen Mary in attendance.
Each year, members of the Royal family attend the event, and this year, William and Kate will be there, having last attended the performance together in 2023.
Last year, King Charles attended the Royal Variety Performance without any other royal beside him as Queen Camilla had to withdraw due to a chest infection that later turned out to be viral pneumonia.
