Kate Middleton ushered in the autumn season early with a new hairstyle showcased during her joint visit to the National History Museum with Prince William on Thursday in London. The Princess of Wales debuted a fresh blond coloring to her usually chestnut brown hair.

Middleton’s new hairstyle incorporated her blond highlights throughout. From the root to the ends, the British royal family member’s brown hair transformed to a dusty blonde tone. To style the new look, the Princess of Wales’ hair was worn down with soft curls cascading far past her shoulders.
Along with her newly minted hair style, Middleton opted for fall-inspired earth tones, wearing a muted green tweed Ralph Lauren blazer and a pair of Pretty Ballerinas tan suede loafers for the daytime outing. Accessories for her look included a pair of blue topaz Kiki McDonough earrings and a fixed alphabet necklace with the initials of her three children by Daniella Draper.
It was less than two months ago that Middleton made her most recent public appearance, prior to Thursday’s debut of her new hair style. In July, the Princess of Wales was joined by her husband and the couple’s two eldest children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, for the gentlemen’s singles final at The Championships, Wimbledon on July 13.
Middleton’s new hair style slightly nods to the fall hair trends forecasted by WWD. “I have seen a big shift from more high contrast colors to more tonal, warmer tones,” stylist Jacob Rozenberg, a Redken artistic ambassador who works with Meghann Fahy and Rose Byrne, told WWD in August.
“I just feel like natural colors and keeping within a close range of your own natural color is just more what we’re going to see this fall.” While the Princess of Wales has for years maintained her natural brunette hair color, her new blonde look may nod to a shift towards embracing her highlights or the natural fluctuation of her hair color as she matures.
As for the upcoming trends high-profile figures may embrace for the autumn season, bat bangs, blunt bobs and shaggy hair styles will likely be on the rise over the course of the coming weeks as temperatures begin to shift.
