Keith Urban has been branded a “triple threat” just days after it was reported that he was “in hiding” following news of his divorce from Nicole Kidman.

Keith and Nicole’s split was confirmed on September 29, and the 57-year-old singer is now starring in his very own television series, The Road.

The CBS show – which also features Blake Shelton – gives 12 emerging artists the chance to open for four-time Grammy Award winner Keith while he’s on the road, as they also compete for a $250,000 prize package and recording opportunities. It comes as the reason for Nicole and Keith’s split emerged in explosive court documents.

Among those contestants is Adam Sanders, a 37-year-old singer songwriter, who grew up in Florida but now lives in Nashville.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Express U.S., Adam opened up about what it was like meeting Keith – and getting to join him on a tour across America.

Describing Keith as “one of the biggest acts in our format,” Adam explained, “I call him the triple threat; he can play them, he can sing them, and he can write them!

“I think he’s just effortless,” he continued. “He is so good at what he does, but it’s not like he’s trying too hard to be one thing or another, he just kind of has it. He has a swagger about him, and it’s all from years and years and years of doing this and perfecting his craft to where he can play this crazy solo but it just looks like… effortless.”

When asked if Keith had given him any advice while they were filming The Road, Adam revealed, “For me, it was identifying what makes you different than anyone else, and really leaning into that.”

“You know, there’s already a Keith Urban, there’s already a Blake Shelton, so finding what is you and what do you do best, better than anyone else, and lean into that, and that’s your lane, and that’s your brand.

“Because no one can beat you at you. You know, if you play in someone else’s sandbox, you’re gonna get beat, you know. So I think that’s both of those guys are the best of what they do,” Adam added.

He went on to share why he thinks veiwers will enjoy The Road, even if they’re not necessarily a country music fan.

“I would say that country music has become sort of the melting pot of all genres, a little bit of this, a little bit of that, in country music,” Adam explained.

“And so what this show brings is 12 different artists with a little bit of a different flavor. You got something that’s really, really country, something that leans maybe a little more pop, something a little more Americana… so for whatever type of music you listen to, there’s probably an artist on the show that you’re gonna like.”

In the first episode of the series, Keith – who shares two daughters with 58-year-old actress Nicole – is seen sharing intimate details about the loneliness and hardship that comes with life on the road, and did not shy away from describing the brutal reality of being separated from loved ones for extended periods.

“Where do we start? It’s a calling, and you’re going to do it or you’re not going to make it,” he says.

He then details the specific moments when the isolation becomes unbearable.

“When you wake up on a tour bus at 3:30 in the morning and you’re sick as a dog, you’re in the middle of nowhere and you’ve got to play your fifth show later that night, and you haven’t slept, and you miss your friends, and you’re missing your family, and you’re completely lonely and miserable and sick, and you say to yourself, ‘Why am I doing this?'” he recalls.

“The only answer can be: Because this is what I’m born to do.”

It comes after Nicole made a shock confession and revealed she is ‘focusing on two things’ after her Urban split

The Road airs Sunday nights at 9pm ET on CBS and will be available to watch on Paramount+ the following day.
