Kelsey Grammer’s daughter Greer has revealed that she was estranged from her dad for most of her childhood.
“The biggest misconception about me is that I didn’t know my dad until I was 16,” Greer, a 33-year-old actress, shared on the Pretty Basic Podcast on Wednesday, November 5.
“My dad left when I was four and then I didn’t meet him again until I was 16. Technically, I saw him once when I was 11 and I ran,” Greer — whose mother is stylist Barrie Buckner — said on the podcast of her father, 70. “It was in a Blockbuster, I ran away.”
During the podcast, Greer shared memories of Kelsey: Visiting him on the set of Frasier when she was approximately 3 years old, and him attending her preschool play, The Wizard of Oz.

According to Greer, when she was 16, she ran into the star at a Christmas tree lot, explaining that he approached her and said, “Are you Greer?”
Greer continued on the podcast, “I was like, ‘I know who you are, duh.’ And then he gave me his phone number and we went to lunch the next week and that’s kind of what started our relationship.”
In May 2025, Kelsey, who is a father of 8, told People that he had been “playing catch up” with some of his kids.
“I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two,” the Cheers alum told the outlet. “I’m trying to make up for a little of it now. I’m still their dad, so you can always have [a] chance to show up.”
