The headlines around the Kennedy Center have mostly centered on artists cancelling their acts since President Donald Trump slapped his name on the side of the building, but not this week.
Well, there were still some headlines about cancellations, but the Kennedy Center managed to add an act, and that was shared with an announcement on X.
“He headlines clubs, theaters, & casinos nationwide, & on Saturday, January 31, comedian, actor, radio personality, television host, & New York Times best-selling author (Adam Carolla) brings his all-new material to our Terrace Theater for TWO SHOWS ONLY,” the center posted on its X account, which it has renamed “The Trump Kennedy Center,” on X.
Carolla, 61, is known for such shows as “Loveline,” “The Man Show,” and “Crank Yankers,” but folks were quick to attack his status as a real headliner in 2026.
‘The only thing actually funny is that you think anyone (except maybe his family) wants to spend $$ on d-list performers like this,” one person replied on the post.
“Hahahahaaha,” another replied. “You’re only able to book D level people now. This dude was never big or funny and hasn’t done anything in over 20 years. You guys have (expletive) yourselves so hard!!!”
“’Headlines casinos’ is the best you can come up with?” another wrote.
“Lol, way to scrape the bottom of the barrel,” another wrote. “Who’s next? Carrot Top?”
“I didn’t know he was still alive,” another added.
“Adam Crapola,” another wrote.
There were plenty more comments like that and you can see them as well as the Kennedy Center’s announcement here.
Not everyone ridiculed the selection, though. There were folks who praised the pick, too.
“Awesome,” one person wrote. “Huge talent and funny guy.”
“This is what I’m talking about!!” another wrote.
“Wow!!” another added. “Fantastic!!”
Got tickets for Adam’s 9 p.m. show!” another added.
Carolla shared the announcement on X and wrote, “Say hi.”
He is pretty outspoken on social media so it will be interesting to see if he takes on the criticism.
