Kensington Palace has released a wholesome video of Prince Louis to thank everyone who has wished him a happy eighth birthday today. The adorable clip, taken by Matt Porteous, shows the young royal enjoying some time on the beach.
Louis is seen digging in the sand with a red plastic spade, jumping into the sea in a wetsuit, playing cricket and running on the golden sands. Playful music is played over the top of the 10-second reel.
A message accompanying the video read: “Thank you for all the birthday wishes for Prince Louis. 8 is great!”
It comes after a picture by the same photographer was released this morning to mark Louis’ birthday. The image was taken on a family holiday to Cornwall during the Easter holidays, with the eight-year-old grinning while standing on a boat.
Wearing a blue knitted quarter-zip jumper with his sleeves rolled up, Louis stands with his arms crossed against a backdrop of the sea as he grins at the camera.
Kensington Palace released the never-before-seen holiday snap of the Prince and Princess of Wales’s youngest child on their social media pages on Thursday morning, with the caption “Happy birthday, Louis! 8 today!” alongside a red balloon emoji.”
The youngster’s picture was taken while he and the family were on a boat during the Easter break.
Parents William and Catherine often take their children to the beachy shores of the South-west coast on school holidays, and it appears they’re trying to instil their own love of sailing on the trio too.
The princess, a former deckhand, famously competed against her husband in the 2019 King’s Cup and both are known for their love of the sea.
