Old Hollywood glamour was the aesthetic theme for Kerry Washington‘s look at the “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” in Los Angeles on Monday night, wearing a Zuhair Murad gown for the special occasion.
Styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn, Washington wore a strapless dress from Murad’s fall 2025 couture collection, designed with a sweetheart neckline and ruched fabric in a shade of onyx with a thigh-high slit and shimmering embellishments running down the front of the gown’s bodice.

Crafted in a silky soft fabric, Washington’s gown featured ruching on the fitted bodice, which also incorporated a subtle cutout and fabric draping. The flowing fabric of the gown created a short train that trailed Washington as she walked the arrival carpet.
Washington’s pointed-toe pumps coordinated seamlessly with her Zuhair Murad gown, and the actress continued her onyx tonal motif with statement earrings and rings to accessorize her attire. The Emmy-nominated actress’ makeup, featuring bold brows, eyes and a glossy lip, was provided by Carola Gonzalez, with hairstyling by Takisha Sturdivant-Drew.

Washington’s look for the “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” hit the runway as part of Zuhair Murad’s fall 2025 couture collection during Paris Couture Week in July. The curation of eveningwear gowns and red-carpet-ready styles took inspiration from Classic Hollywood, the likes of such stars as Katharine Hepburn and the actress’ memorable characters.
“The references were evident in several broad-shouldered cuts. That silhouette spoke volumes — sculptural and sharp with powerful lines that anchored delicate, sheer gowns and fluid capes,” Rhonda Richford wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.

The Lebanese designer “took the ‘golden’ in Golden Age literally, using a palette of yellows and plenty of shine. One sequined column shimmered like a freshly polished Oscar,” Richford wrote. Citing the influence of Hepburn, Murad said, “Women today are still fighting for their dreams, their presence, their identity,” per Richford’s review.
“Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” is the third installment in filmmaker Rian Johnson’s “Knives Out” franchise. The film follows detective Benoit Blanc on his most dangerous case yet. “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” hits theaters Nov. 26 and arrives on Netflix Dec. 12.
