Kim Kardashian revealed she failed the California Bar Exam.
The SKIMS founder has been pursuing her degree for six years.
She shared a statement on her determination to continue.
On Saturday, Kim Kardashian shared an update on her law school journey, posting a statement on failing the California Bar Exam. The SKIMS founder took the challenging test earlier this year with the hope of receiving her license to practice law. In a heartfelt message to her followers, Kardashian explained that she still has more to do on her journey to become a lawyer.
“Well… I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a very well-dressed one on TV,” she wrote, referring to her role on Ryan Murphy’s All’s Fair. “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up, just more studying and even more determination.”
The Kardashians star continued to say that the setback was only more motivation.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along the way so far,” she said. “Failing short isn’t failure—it’s fuel. I was so close to passing the exam, and that only motivated me even more.”
In 2021, Kardashian passed the First-Year Law Students’ Examination, also known as the the “baby bar,” as well as the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE) in early 2025.
In 2023, in a cover story for Vogue Italia’s July issue, Kardashian talked studying and having the process captured on her hit TV show. She shared that her hard work brought her closer to her oldest daughter, North West.
“My daughter was there with me,” she said. “For a long time it was difficult for her to understand why I was studying all the time. She saw me fail and cry. She saw how I was no different than her when she was worried because of a test.”
She added, “But when she saw me cry from joy, I knew she understood how important that achievement was to me personally….You are only allowed to take the baby bar a certain amount of times—this was the last time I could ever take it—so if I don’t [pass], then this law school journey is over for me.”
