Reality TV and businesswoman Kim Kardashian had an eight-word panicked plea she lost her composure the 2025 Academy Museum Gala on Oct. 18, a lipreader has exposed.
The 44-year-old mother-of-four was literally unrecognizable as she attended the event in Los Angeles, California, wearing a Maison Margiela couture nude look that included a mask that covered her entire face.
Despite showing up in her head-turning faceless look, which creeped fans out online, Kardashian revealed that she was still in full glam underneath. However, whether she had a full face of makeup on under the bizarre nude drape or not, Kardashian had a hard time seeing where she was going and nearly fell on her covered face.

Lipreader Nicola Hickling analyzed a clip posted to People‘s Instagram account featuring Kardashian being helped into the event, with an escort holding up her nude gown and she flailed her arms trying not to fall.
Hickling told the Mirror US, “Using advanced video enhancement software, I analyzed the footage frame by frame and isolated Kim Kardashian’s speech patterns beneath her mask allowing me to confidently determine what she said to her assistant.”
Hickling proceeded to expose to us, “Kim appears visibly unsettled, she waves her hands in disbelief and shakes her head before insisting, ‘Don’t let go, I can’t see a thing.’
“She seems momentarily panicked and unsteady. Her assistant stays calm and supportive, replying, ‘Don’t worry, I’ve got you. I’ll lead you, just hold onto my hand.'”
The lipreader continued to analyze, “Kim regains her composure and together they begin to walk away with more confidence.”
Meanwhile, Kardashian left her fans creeped out with the bizarre outfit. She accessorized the outfit with a layered crystal-embellished choker necklace with green jewels and cross pendants and a ring of the same color.
She posted a clip of herself poking fun at her masked look ahead of the gala. In the video, she asked her make-up artist Mario Dedivanoic, “Mario, do I look okay? The make-up?” He jokingly replied, “Your make-up looks amazing, yes.”
Kardashian then said, “It’s good? All that hard work guys. I feel like I always do this to Mario, though.” While some people said the look was “interesting” and a fan described Kim as “next level fabulous,” others weren’t quite keen on her choice of outfit.
Some even mentioned that the outfit reminded them of her head-to-toe covered outfit she wore while attending the 2021 Met Gala with her ex-husband, Kanye West. At the 2021 Met Gala, Kardashian wore a black mask that concealed both her face and head as part of a Balenciaga outfit.
Commenting on the star’s look from Saturday night, a fan wrote on X, “You can still see the Kanye in her.”
“Was she styled by Kanye?” one asked, while another wrote, “She misses Kanye I see… Because this is ridiculous.”
One more said, “She looks ridiculous. Must be a leftover from crazy Kanye.” Someone else tweeted, “How does she breathe?”
A person claimed, “This is what happens when the plastic surgery doesn’t heal in time for the event lol.” Another X user said, “Why are celebrities so weird? Like they don’t know how to just be normal people.”
Her attendance at the event came a day after the Skims founder and her family helped Kylie Jenner celebrate the 10th anniversary of her makeup company, Kylie Cosmetics, at a pop-up event. Jenner and Kardashian rocked matching, figure-hugging latex dresses.
