King Charles and Donald Trump share a “fantastic relationship”, according to body language expert Darren Stanton.
Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, the body language expert examined the pair’s rapport based on two interactions during the initial days of the visit. The news follows Trump getting accused of breaking Royal protocol this week.
Analyzing the moment Trump disclosed that his late mother had a crush on the King, Mr Stanton said the 77-year-old appeared to display his “fantastic sense of humor”.
He said, “I think the two of them have a fantastic relationship and a strong bond. Charles demonstrated his fantastic sense of humor in this.”
He added, “He rolled his eyes and raised his eyebrows as if to say ‘thanks for that’.
“He took it on the chin and took it in good grace. Something he has done throughout this visit – I feel he has done wonders for US and UK relations over the last few days,” reports the Express.
The second interaction occurred when the King was present in the Oval Office of the White House with the US President, where Trump was observed placing his hand on the monarch’s knee.
He said, “This was a really significant gestural slip. But Charles again handled it with real grace and didn’t show any outward signs of discomfort – only reacting with laughter.”
“The fact that it happened is a testament to the relationship Charles has been able to build.”
“That kind of contact is a gesture of endearment and really demonstrates the strength of the feelings towards the King, and Charles’ minimal reaction suggests those feelings are reciprocated.”
Queen Camilla is also accompanying her husband on the US visit.
