The royal family was summoned to Scotland for a summit hosted by King Charles, just ahead of Prince Harry‘s trip home.
The Daily Mail reported on Wednesday, June 1, that the King hosted the “rare family dinner” at the Palace of Holyroodhouse on Tuesday, June 30. Queen Camilla, Prince William, Princess Anne and Prince Edward were all said to be there.
The timing pointed straight to Harry — who, along with his wife Meghan Markle, planned to bring their kids to Britain for the first time in four years in July, ABC News reported on June 29. Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, last visited Harry’s home country for the late Queen Elizabeth‘s Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
A source told The Telegraph that the Duke of Sussex “just wants his kids to see their grandfather,” as he battles cancer.

A spokesperson for Harry told USA Today on June 29 that unresolved security concerns could yet complicate the trip. The Duke and Duchess lost their state-funded U.K. security when they stepped back from royal duties in 2020. Since then, Harry’s stance on the security issue has been firm.
The outlet reported that Charles had offered them royal lodging, and the Sussexes have since accepted the invitation, at least in part, though the security question still hangs over the plans. The couple has reportedly planned to split their stay between a royal residence and private accommodation.

In May 2025, after a crucial court appeal to restore his U.K. protection fell through, he told the BBC he “can’t see a world” in which he would be okay bringing his family to his homeland without it.
