King Charles makes comment on police involvement in Andrew case

The King leads commemorations on VJ day anniversary

Buckingham Palace has said The King is ‘ready to support’ police
as it was confirmed officers are assessing claims that Andrew
Mountbatten-Windsor shared confidential reports during his time as
a trade envoy with Jeffrey Epstein.

Thames Valley Police said it was looking at the claims which
concern Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s time as a special trade envoy.
Documents released by the US Department of Justice appear to show
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor had forwarded details of trips he made to
Singapore, China, Vietnam and South Korea to Epstein who by then
had served a term for sex offences.

Late on Monday, Buckingham Palace said that ”The King has made
clear, in words and through unprecedented actions, his profound
concern at allegations which continue to come to light in respect
of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s conduct. While the specific claims in
question are for Mr Mountbatten-Windsor to address, if we are
approached by Thames Valley Police we stand ready to support them
as you would expect.”

And it continued ”as was previously stated, Their Majesties’
thoughts and sympathies have been, and remain with, the victims of
any and all forms of abuse.”

Earlier the same day, the
Prince and Princess of Wales made their first comments
since
the latest revelations about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s
relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. They said that their focus was
the victims and that they remain ”deeply concerned by the
continuing revelations”.

The King could not be made to give evidence in any court case as
justice is maintained in his name. However, His Majesty could
voluntarily assist police if he believed he had information that
may help them in their inquiries.

For the second engagement in a row, King Charles faced a
heckler. This time, he was shouted at by a man in Clitheroe,
Lancashire who asked how long he had known about the links between
Andrew and Epstein. The man was quickly shouted down by others in
the sizeable crowd that had come out to see King Charles.

At the end of last week, during a visit to Dedham in Essex, The
King was heckled about his brother’s friendship with Jeffrey
Epstein. It’s believed both events, that involved lone hecklers,
were carried out by members of an organised anti-monarchy
group.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has always denied any wrongdoing. He
was stripped of all his titles in the autumn of 2025 when King
Charles used Letters Patent to remove his HRH and Prince and asked
the Lord Chancellor to remove the title of Duke of York from the
Roll of Peerage.

At the same time, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor gave up his lease
on the thirty room Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate which he had
lived in since 2003. However, he only moved out at the start of
February. He is understood to now be living at Wood Farm on the
Sandringham estate, which is the personal property of The King
rather than belonging to the Crown, as is the case with
Windsor.
