According to Rob Shuter, a source claimed that the 76-year-old monarch renovated Wood Farm, which was the late Prince Philip’s private estate. Reportedly, he has decided to give it to his younger brother, who recently lost his “prince” title.
Palace insiders described the king’s move as “checkmate.” The Sandringham property was said to be Queen Elizabeth II’s husband’s retreat during his final years. Hence, it’s considered “historic” and a “symbol of parental blessing.” As per a courtier, if Andrew rejected the king’s offer, he would allegedly look “ungrateful.”
Charles has reportedly made changes in the interiors, giving it a “nicer” look. However, Shuter suggested that there’s a hint of “ruthless strategy” behind the monarch’s kindness. Allegedly, Andrew would avoid complaining about “size, status, or symbolism” as the king offered him a place with memories. “If it was good enough for your father — and your mother visited — there’s nothing to argue about,” a palace source stated. Thus, the king has seemingly put his 65-year-old brother in a complicated spot.
Earlier, a report mentioned that Andrew demanded Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former home, Frogmore Cottage. The late queen gifted the mansion to the couple when they got married. According to insiders, he reportedly wanted this property as a condition to vacate Royal Lodge.
