The royals spent time talking to as many of the thousands of guests as possible. The party was held to honour frontline workers across the country.
As well as learning about the vital work the guests carry out, the King also chatted to one lady about health and ageing.
As reported by GB News, the monarch had this chat with Virginia Cavill, who was in a wheelchair after a fall left her with a broken ankle.
King Charles made a comment about ageing, saying: “This is the trouble as you get older, I know it’s going to happen to me.”
When asked about his own health, the monarch said in an honest five-word reply: “I’m OK, I totter along.”
This comment is telling from the monarch, who has been open about ageing and his health since 2024, when it was revealed he had been diagnosed with cancer.
The King is still believed to be undergoing cancer treatment, which was reduced this year – a move that is said to be a good sign.
The Mail’s royal editor, Rebecca English, once said: “Charles is a workaholic, who famously packs in ten to 12 engagements and meetings a day and spends many a night alone in his study, furiously writing letters and keeping up with his paperwork, well into the early hours.
“His wife knows he won’t change, and nor would she want him to.”
